Plant Technician

The Plant Technician is based in CA, and is a member of the Operations Department. The primary purpose of the Plant Technician is to ensure that the CED assets are maximizing energy production at all times and operating at their design point. This position involves both equipment and technology system monitoring, maintenance and repair. The Plant Technician will have experience in several plant controller technologies, programming of control systems, programmable logic controllers, field measuring devices, plant networks, network hardware and software, network troubleshooting, electric metering technologies and telecommunications technology. The Plant Technician will also have a good understanding of utility distribution, controls, and high voltage transmission systems. Overall, the Plant Technician is expected to be well versed in power production service and engineering as well as have had significant practical hands on experience with a proven track record in the energy business. The Plant Technician must have knowledge of power generation safety practices including NFPA 70E and OSHA Rules and Regulations as they apply to power generation, distribution and transmission. Travel to other Con Edison Development project sites is required as needed to support operations. Off?hour and weekend work will be required as part of this position.
ResponsibilitiesMaintain plant components, networks, communications and other systems to ensure plant reliability. Schedules and conducts planned maintenance activities as well as responds to emergent maintenance issues. Troubleshoot, test, and repair equipment as required. Recommend enhancements and implement improvements to improve plant output.Review facility operating data and resolve problems that are affecting facility output. Track causes and implement corrective actions. Assist Asset Managers, Operators, and Electricians in resolving technical issues with facilities. Write procedures and establish plans to facilitate rapid identification and remediation of SCADA, networking and communications problems. Maintain knowledge of renewable technologies commercially available particularly SCADA systems, PLCs, networking technologies and communications equipment. Utilize working knowledge of various equipment suppliers' technologies to ensure CED systems are up to date.Prepare maintenance plans, log entries, and reports to management; manage administrative tasksQualifications
Associates degree in electrical technology required or well documented relevant work in field service engineering for a major component supplier.
5+ years field service or power plant experience in energy-related technologies and applications required
Power distribution systems experience a plus
Experience in the overall aspects of design engineering, construction, start-up/commissioning, and subsequent O&M of energy projects
Specific experience in the operation and maintenance of large scale PV solar technologies strongly preferred
Production data evaluation and implementation of corrective actions
Working knowledge of electricity and hazards posed by electrical equipment and conductors is required
Experience establishing programs and performing preventive/predictive maintenance on power plant equipment.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
